Dear Students,
Due to a planned system upgrade all Self Issue Machines will be out of service on both the 11th and 12th of January. If you wish to return or issue any books please come to the Library Enquiry desk on the 1st floor where any books will be processed manually. If you would like to renew your books please come up to the desk or phone the library 01483 21 6371 or email us at library-moorgate@lawcol.co.uk and your renewals will be noted so that you do not incur any fines for this period.
Please note that due to the manual process of issuing books it may take longer than usual.
Any fines that you wish to pay off can be processed as normal after the completion of the update and the system is up and running again.
Access to the Library Catalogue and My Library Account on Elite will not be possible during this time.

Dear Students,
Here are some FAQs for Moorgate Library that you may find helpful when it comes to borrowing and returning books, fines and general information about the library.
FAQs
1. There are three different loan types: 3 Day Standard Loan- These have a yellow sticker at the bottom on the spine. 1 Week Loan- These have a yellow sticker on the spine and a yellow label saying WK at the top. 3 Hour Loans- These have a pink sticker on the spine and can only be taken out at the Enquiry Desk.
All Reference books cannot be loaned, and cannot be taken from the library. Reference books have a red sticker on the spine and a Reference Only label on the front cover.
2. Students can borrow up to 5 books at any one time
3. To take out a book, students can either use the self service machines located on Ground Floor and 1st Floor, or come to the Enquiry Desk. Please remember to take the receipt from the self service machines as this will tell you when the book is due back to the library and then make sure you log off afterwards.
4. You can renew a book either by logging onto My Library Account on Elite, or by phoning the library. Students can renew a book 15 times before the book has to come back. This only relates to a book with no reservations on it, if a book has been reserved it must come back to the library on the original due date/time.
5. Fines for a standard loan are £1 per item per day. Fines for a 3 Hour Loan are £1 per item, per hour up to £5.
6. Fines can reach up to £25 before a student’s account is frozen, any payment to bring the balance under £25 will unlock the account.

To renew your books online, please log onto “My Library Account” with your college Id and surname
ELITE> My Library> Library Resources> My Library Account”
1) Select the items you wish to renew
2) Click “Request renewal”
If your renewal has been successful the new date and the word “Renewed” will appear in the status box. If any of your books do not renew, it will be due to another student having placed a “request” on the item or that you have reached the renewal limit (15). In this case you must return the books to the Library. Failing to do will result in fines (£1 per day).
