Dear students,

This issue raised on 1st February 2011 by a student regarding reserving of computers by students has now been escalated and Resource Technicians will be logging off computers and removing students belongings left on desks for long periods from now on. A long period is over an hour.
Please be aware of this issue and don’t abandon your stuff for long periods or leave computers logged in.  Be especially careful of leaving your computers logged in with unsaved work.
Please be considerate of fellow students who need to do their work too at this busy time of year.
Also a reminder to you not to leave memory sticks in computers or belongings like student cards, phones, valuables on desks.

Thank you,

Dear Students

In order to streamline the response time it takes to assist students on computers in the libraries, and other student study areas res-techs have devised a method of numbering the individual PCs in relation to their location in the building.

All Student PCs have been numbered starting from the cyber cafe to the fourth floor break out room starting from 1 and ending on 320 respectively.   All references to this numbering system should refer to the workstation and not the PC number.  A letter has been assigned right next to the number to identify the floor on which it is located so for example PC number 1 in the cyber cafe would have been assigned the letter A as will all other PCs in the same location -If a student required assistance with a PC they would write it as follows:-  23A,  this would mean that this is in the cyber cafe.

This method of numbering will allow us to assist students quicker and more efficiently rather than the old method of having to seek out the student.

The following is a list of the locations and the numbers for all the student PCs

Cyber Cafe  1A - 41A
Ground Floor                                                            42B – 150B
First Floor Library & Learning support                  151C – 270C
3rd Floor Breakout                                                  271 D – 288D
4th Floor Breakout                                                  289 E – 320 E

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.

Kind regards
